Does a New Life Form Mean God Is Dead?

The discovery of what is apparently an entirely new form of life -- a bacteria based on toxic arsenic rather than phosphorus, one of the six building blocks of all life on Earth -- has set the scientific world abuzz, prompting White House inquiries to NASA and threatening to upend longstanding beliefs about biology.

But some say the announcement also signals an end to religious faith, or at least the beginning of the end, because it implies that life can spring forth unexpectedly on Earth or even on other planets, and in unexpected forms -- developments that seem to run counter to literal readings of biblical creation accounts.

"The polite thing to say is that discoveries such as this don't really impeach the credibility of established religion, but in truth of course they really do," David Niose, president of the American Humanist Association (AHA), a leading secularist organization, said of this week's revelations about the microbes discovered in Lake Mono in California.

"The fact that life can spring forth in this way from nature, taken in context with what else we've learned in recent centuries about space and time, surely makes it less plausible that the human animal is the specially favored creation of all-powerful, all-knowing divinity," Niose said.

INCREDIBLE IGNORANCE ABOUT ORIGINS …

The report by Gibson is probably one of the most ignorant suggestions that I HAVE OBSERVED IN PRINT IN MY 75 YEARS OF LIVING ON THIS EARTH. The universe from which this so called new life form has appeared was created by God; since this includes everything including toxic arsenic why is that incredible or even interesting since several new species of germs and other microscopic agents have risen from combinations of chemicals and other agents found through God’s creation?

The humanist organizations will grasp the impossible in order to prove the impossible yet this is not even close to impossible. This is simply ignorance of the Almighty Power {i.e. GOD}.

I feel sorry for those that spend their lifetime in pursuit of fairy tales about how there must be greater things in earth or the universe that man has yet seen or even understands. Indeed; God has produced the universe in which we live and one can expect that whatever man discovers about that universe God knows and has known for approximately 6,000 - 7,000 years {i.e. since HE CREATED IT – Genesis 1:1-2}.

CAN A CHRISTIAN FALL?

INTRODUCTION:

Some denominational people teach that a person who has been saved cannot ever sin in such a way as to be lost. This doctrine is currently being taught by Terry Watkins via the Internet. Some of the statements made to support this false doctrine are contained on the Internet at --- http://www.av1611.org/etern.html. Three of the quotes that clearly teach that man cannot sin so as to loose their soul after being saved from this site, follow:

We already HAVE eternal life. When the Bible speaks of possessing eternal life, it speaks in the present tense (hath, have, etc.) — SOMETHING WE ALREADY HAVE! If we had to work or endure to keep our salvation, this could not be true.

What about the BACKSLIDER? What about the "backslider" or somebody that forsakes the Lord? The Bible says he will suffer loss (rewards, etc.) — but he himself shall be saved!

What if we later — BELIEVE NOT? Our salvation is so secure — even if we BELIEVE NOT after we're saved, because we become part of Him (the body of Christ), ". . .yet he abideth faithful: HE CANNOT DENY HIMSELF."

The above quotations have been inserted here so that the existence of this false doctrine might be established as factual. This false doctrine is clearly refuted by the teaching of the Bible in many places. Please note the following Biblical facts that do refute this view.

BODY:

I. The security of the faithful Christian is not the subject herein --- cf., Psalms 94:14, "For Jehovah will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his

inheritance" (ASV) --- John 6:37, "All that which the Father giveth me shall come unto me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out" (ASV). --- Hebrews 13:5, "Be ye free from the love of money; content with such things as ye have: for himself hath said, I will in no wise fail thee, neither will I in any wise forsake thee" (ASV" These Scriptures teach that the faithful (i.e., conditional) disciple will be safe, cf., Revelation 2:10 and 2 Timothy 4:7-8.

II. The subject matter discussed here is, the Christian who turns to adultery, drunkenness, etc., and will not repent of those continuing sins:

CONSIDER THIS

The Bible teaches, "He must remember from whence he has fallen," Revelation 2:5 --- Acknowledge his sinfulness, Acts 8:24 --- Repent and seek prayer on his behalf, Acts 8:22 --- 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"

This is somewhat different than that taught by Terry Watkins and associates.

III. The Bible clearly teaches that a person who has been saved from past sin through God's grace, his faith, and obedience, can afterward so sin as to be eternally lost in hell (Greek - gehenna). In connection with this fact, note the following reference carefully:

The Christian can fall from grace, Revelation 2:5

The Christian may err concerning the faith, 1 Timothy 6:21

The Christian may depart (i.e., leave) the faith, 1 Timothy 4:1

The Christian may turn aside (i.e., away from) the faith, 1 Timothy 1:5-6

The Christian may cast off their faith, 1 Timothy 5:12

The Christian may deny his faith, 1 Timothy 5:8

The Christian may have their faith overthrown, 2 Timothy 2:18

The Christian may have their faith shipwrecked, 1 Timothy 1:19

IV. From these (i.e., above) references presented here it is apparent that anyone who backslides and will not repent of those sins will be eternally lost in gehenna

(i.e., Hell), cf., 1 Timothy 5:8-12.

CONCLUSION:

Religious people who teach this false doctrine are doing a disservice to their followers; this concept will surely destroy those that are being taught it. The Bible condemns those who will not repent of sins that they have committed, yet these false teachers tells the guilty sinner that they have nothing to worry about. Such a doctrine is similar to that advocated by the Jewish leaders of Christ's day who ---

Matthew 23:13-16, " > 13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye shut the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye enter not in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering in to enter. > 14 (Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, even while for pretence ye make long prayers: therefore ye shall receive greater condemnation.) > 15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he is become so, ye make him twofold more a son of hell than yourselves. > 16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, that say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor" (ASV).

Matt 23:24-27, " > 24Ye blind guides, that strain out the gnat, and swallow the camel! > 25Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full from extortion and excess. > 26Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the platter, that the outside thereof may become clean also. > 27Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. There are many things that are common in the lives of people in 2010 that 60 years ago did not exist. For instance; today a person can go anywhere in the world in a matter of two days time. Air travel is so common that the schedules are planned to accommodate the traveler when ever they want to travel. Indeed, many new ways to do almost anything have been invented or discovered in the past 60 years.

The days of our life

The shortness of human life today compared to the length of life in some ages of man’s past existence is amazing. The Bible is clear about the length of life enjoyed by some early people of this earth as we see from such passages of Scripture as Genesis 5. The oldest man n history was Methuselah – Gen. 5:27 And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died. Sometimes we consider ourselves very old at 85 or 90 years of age yet there is a future time when man will live forever - John 11:25-26 - 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? KJV

Rom 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. KJV

Heb. 5:9 - and being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; KJ

LENGTH OF OUR DAYS IS UNIMPORTANT:

The time that we have to live here on the earth is really unimportant.

The important fact for everyone who is born into this world is whether they live as accountable persons toward Almighty God [cf. Eccl. 12:1 - Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shall say, I have no pleasure in them; KJV];

Yes, it is important to remember our Creator; GOD while we are still young. We ought to remind our children and grand-children that serving God is a very important consideration while we are young and strong. Garreth Clair has returned to the work here after 6 weeks of absence due to left knee joint replacement surgery. It is good to be back to the work for God. I do not know what I would do with myself if I did not work for God as a located preacher. Indeed, I understand that most people retire from their work at about age 65. I consider it an obligation to Almighty God to continue the work as I have for the past 50 years; I do not know how to retire from teaching, defending, and publishing God’s message for mankind.

He holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan; a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Purdue University; and a Certificate of Achievement for the completion of four years in the Bible Department at Florida College. Mr. Adams has preached full-time for seventeen years followed by fourteen years in part-time evangelism. He currently works with the church of Christ in Plymouth, IN. Preacher operation update:

Garreth had knee joint replacement surgery on March 29.

The surgery was successful and a week later the doctors discovered an infection that has taken a great deal of time and effort to eliminate. As of this writing I am still taking antibiotics for the infection. In our report in May we will bring everyone up to date on our progress.

The Road to Success

Often in life we become discouraged and anxious about the events of life that happen to us all. The problems of discouragement and anxiety may be overcome by the Christian who will continue to remain faithful to the Word of God regardless of whatever problem in life may come. The Devil uses discouragement and anxiety to cause many Christians to turn aside and stop serving God faithfully; let this never be said of us. Please note the following Scriptural references regarding this serious matter …

THE VALUE AND IMPORTANCE OF

GOSPEL MEETINGS

The value of gospel meetings [i.e. revivals] has long been a subject of debate. On the one hand there are those that champion the philosophy that the gospel meeting of today does no good. There are those on the other hand that tell us that the value of gospel meetings to the overall spiritual and numerical growth of the congregation is substantial. If we look only at the conversions to be numbered in the gospel meeting we may indeed claim that they have not been productive in recent years -- generally speaking. Surely the immediate number of conversions is not an inadequate devise for measuring the benefits of a gospel meeting, please notice the following:

1. THE GOSPEL IS PREACHED EACH SERVICE DURING A GOSPEL MEETING:

2 Tim. 4:2,

2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. NKJV

2. BRETHREN HAVE OCCASION TO INTERACT TOGETHER:

Eph. 4:3,

3 Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace NKJV

3. THE CONGREGATION IS STIMULATED TO UNITED EFFORT:

Heb. 10:24-25

24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,

25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

4. OPPORTUNITIES TO MEET CHRISTIONS FROM OTHER CONGREGATIONS IS ENHANCED:

1 Thess. 1:8,

8 For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing. KJV

5. THE LOCAL MEMBERSHIP HAS SPECIAL INCENTIVE TO INVITE OTHERS TO ATTEND THE SERVICES:

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of

the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, NKJV

6. IT IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR EVERY CHRISTIAN TO WORK:

The Great Hope of Humanity “GOD”

In the world today there are 6.9 Billion people living and seeking life, health, and prosperity. This large number of people consists of all nationalities, of many different positions on the ladder of success regarding food, clothing, income, and general quality of life. These people are diverse in many ways but there is one point where they mostly will agree; they desire a better and more abundant life and have a great desire to succeed in the living of life.

The population of this planet has one hope that unites them; everyone has a desire for something better in a different life. You see; many people seek some form of divine aid; yet this seeking takes many forms and is pursued in many different ways as current and past history attest.

The existence of many different religious movements in the world establish the fact that man is seeking God or some Supreme Being that will provide the hope that they cannot reach; they struggle but cannot attain happiness and contentment and many leave the world of the living with no hope; indeed, for that which they could not acquire during their lifetime.

One of the amazing facts that man contends with in this present word is the multitude of religious movements; often teaching and worshipping a god in ways that are contrary to the way their neighbor seeks their god and the multiplicity of different religions only leads to confusion and doubt about the religious beliefs of millions of seekers today. Indeed, there is confusion on every side; consequently men are never serious about seeking the true God. You see; the true God is assessable by all who will seek Him in His Book (i.e. the Bible); Acts 17:24-30 - 24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: KJV

EXAMPLE:

Many people today when youth is finally past began to seek meaning and their place in society and seek some form of provision. Many people leave high school and attend a college or university where they pursue a better life and a better resume hopeful of future work and opportunity to store-up funds for the better life and ultimately for the hope of a better and more productive life in the older years. Often this hope and expectation of better things does not work out; failure to learn and develop physically; health problems; family problems (divorce; death, disabled children); loss of loved ones that leave a devastating mental burden to bear; and many other obstacles in life that hinder and make the hope and desire of an earlier time seem impossible to attain.

REMEMBER THIS:

Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:1 - 7 truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun: 8 but if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity. 9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment. 10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

Ecclesiastes 12 - 1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shall say, I have no pleasure in them; KJV --- Death will come eventually to all living; therefore remember the instructions from Solomon here in Ecclesiastes.

This example is similar to the religious life many people live who have hope of gaining the rewards of God; someday (Mark 10:17-21). Many of these have seen the need to serve God; and have started a life on the narrow path (Matt 7:13-14 - 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. KJV) - but hardship of health, unhappiness in marriage and family cares; plus the stresses of a difficult work place and a desire for things that is greater than their income; brings distress and distress brings discouragement and discouragement brings depression and depression cause them to abandon their hope for heaven (Ps. 55:22 - Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall. NIV)

Indeed, many people have disappointments and calamity in their lives; yet they do continue to survive and they do continue to accomplish great things in life. This is also true of the Christian who understands and places God’s things first in their lives. The Christian who succeeds in attaining a happy resurrection will abide within the instructions of Almighty God via the Holy Scriptures. Do you follow God’s instructions?

PRESSING ONWARD

As we consider the work of God in our lives it is always with fear and trembling that we acknowledge our work and faith in the things of God. It is impossible to work and labor faithfully with God except possessed with unwavering confidence in God and His ability to provide everything that He reveals for humankind via His Holy Word (i.e. the Bible). The Scriptures tells us as workers in the Vineyard of the Lord several things; please note the following list (i.e. the list is not complete).

1. WE ARE LABOURERS TOGETHER WITH GOD - 1 Cor. 3:9 - For we are laborers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. KJV

2. WE ARE TO CONVERT AND RESTORE THE SINFUL - James 5:20 - Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. KJV

Gal. 6:1 - Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. KJV

3. WE MUST SOW THE GOOD SEED; and LEAVE THE INCREASE TO THE LORD, He will give the increase - 1 Cor. 3:7-9 - 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. 8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. 9 For we are laborers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. KJV

4. WE MUST CONSISTENTLY and WITH LOVE SERVE WITH PATIENCE OUR LORD:

1 Thess. 1:3 - 3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love , and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

Eph. 4:15 - But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

Eph. 4:2-3 - 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. KJV

CONSIDER THIS:

Let us acknowledge that we are children of God and that we will live as instructed by God via His Holy Word. May we each consider ourselves as learners – SEE NEXT PAGE

This coming year we have scheduled two GOSPEL MEETINGS;

1. (SPRING April 22-25, 2010 – Arthur Adams (Plymouth, IN) – confirmed

2. FALL September 19-24, 2010 - Aaron Veyon (Fredericktown, OH) – confirmed).

While we will have two meetings this year, other congregations in the area will be conducting gospel meetings as well; as we have opportunity let us plan to visit with some of the congregations in the area while they are having their gospel meetings; the meeting announcements of congregations in driving distance of Hilliard are posted on the bulletin board in the vestibule as they are received here. Check the bulletin board occasionally so that you will be continually updated about happenings that are of interest to Christians.

HILLIARD BULLETIN for the past 11 years is posted on considermagazine.com. You may want to check an article or for information that has occurred here in the past 11 years. There will be some information about the events and happenings listed there.
